How Long Does a Typical Project Take?
A single-room redesign typically takes 8 to 12 weeks. A complete home interior, from concept through installation, runs 6 to 12 months. International projects can take longer due to shipping and local building regulations. We agree a realistic timeline at the start of every commission. Yes. By Shakir regularly manages commissions across borders. Current and completed projects include properties in the Netherlands, Dubai, Barcelona, Antwerpen and Malaga. The 3D visualisation stage enables remote approval of every room. Shakir travels to the project site for key milestones. Supplier coordination, procurement and delivery scheduling are handled centrally from the Netherlands.
Do I Need to Be Present During the Design Process?
Not for most of it. The 3D visualisation stage is designed for remote approval: you see every room in photorealistic detail and sign off digitally. Many clients are based in a different country from their property. We handle all site coordination and provide regular photo updates during installation.
What Is 3D Interior Design Visualisation?
A photorealistic digital preview of your finished interior, built before construction begins. Every room is modelled with accurate proportions, real material textures and natural lighting. How Accurate Are the 3D Renders?
Very. Materials are rendered from real texture samples, lighting is calculated from your property's orientation and window placement, and furniture is modelled to manufacturer dimensions. Can I Hire By Shakir for Just One Part of the Process?
Yes. While most clients choose the complete service, individual elements such as concept development, 3D visualisation or furniture procurement are available separately. The scope is shaped around what your project needs. Begin with a conversation and we will recommend what fits.
What Is the Difference Between Interior Design and Interior Decorating?
Interior design covers the full scope of a residential project: spatial planning, material specification, bespoke joinery, procurement and trade coordination. Interior decorating focuses on surface finishes, furnishings and styling. By Shakir practises interior design and interior architecture, meaning we work with spatial structure, not just aesthetics.
Is By Shakir Insured?
Yes. The studio carries professional indemnity insurance covering design advice, project management and procurement coordination. If you have specific insurance requirements for your project, raise them during the initial conversation and we will provide documentation.
