A complete luxury interior commission for a villa mansion in the Netherlands. By Shakir designed the full scope of the project: spatial planning, material selection, bespoke joinery, furniture procurement and installation. The result is a home that balances contemporary Dutch proportions with warm, tactile materials throughout.

The Brief

The clients approached By Shakir with a newly built villa and a clear ambition: an interior that felt warm and collected, not showroom-new. The architecture provided generous proportions and abundant natural light. The design brief was to complement those qualities without competing with them.

The Approach

The material palette took its cues from the surrounding landscape. Natural stone flooring, warm timber joinery and linen-upholstered furnishings create a layered, inhabitable quality throughout. Every room connects to the next through a consistent material language, while each space retains its own character.

The living areas open onto the garden through full-height glazing. Furniture was positioned to frame the view rather than dominate it. In the evening, layered lighting transforms the same spaces into something quieter and more intimate.

The Detail

Bespoke joinery runs through the entire villa: the kitchen cabinetry, a built-in media wall in the living room and full-height wardrobes in the primary bedroom. Each piece was designed in 3D and approved by the client before manufacture began.
