Yes. The Country Estate commission near Antwerp had protected heritage elements. Original floors, plaster ceiling mouldings, period windows: all preserved and designed around. The design brief was contemporary comfort within a heritage frame, not a pastiche restoration and not an erasure of what was there.

Administration changes. Belgium has its own building rules and permit processes, and where structural changes are involved, you will need a locally registered architect or engineer. By Shakir handles the interior design; Belgian administrative requirements are a parallel track. For the Antwerp estate project, we worked alongside the client's local contacts for anything requiring Belgian professional registration.
Can you blend Dutch and Belgian interior traditions in a single project?
By Shakir's aesthetic does not start from a national tradition. It starts from the client, the property, and the brief. The Dutch-Belgian border runs through a continuous cultural region; the differences in interior design vocabulary are less significant than the differences between any two individual clients. We design for the person and the place, not the nationality.
